Day 1: Arrival to Quito – Flight to manta

We will be waiting for you at Manta Airport at the end of the day. Before joining Manta, you will stop in Quito, a very beautiful colonial city that we invite you to explore. The best option is to arrive in Quito the day before, sleep there and enjoy a full day of sightseeing. On request, we can provide you with a driver/guide to discover the capital in peace. You take your Quito-Manta flight around 6 p.m. (Avianca or TAME company). The Mono 500 team will be waiting for you on arrival to drive you to Santa Marianita (15 min journey) where you will discover the hotel by the sea that the agency offers to its travelers.

Day 2: RELAXATION IN SANTA MARIANA

Take advantage of this first day to taste the warm waters and white sandy Pacific beaches’ pleasure. A relaxing day to recover from jet lag, swim, walk around town and discover the Mono 500 garage where the Royal Enfield fleet is stored.

Day 3: SANTA MARIANITA – MONTANITA [180 km]

Get started with your Royal Enfield and get an introduction to local driving on the beautiful Sunshine Route. This famous road runs directly alongside the Ecuadorian coast beaches and offers idyllic panoramas. It is therefore easy to enjoy a quick swim at each stopover before arriving at Montanita, one of the most popular beaches in the country, renowned for its surf spots, the sweetness of life, and its rum cocktails. Night in a charming resort.

Day 4: MONTANITA – BABAOYO [240 km ]

A very nice stage awaits us today, starting from Montanita beach. We will continue our journey north along the coast before branching off into the lush countryside. Change of scenery, we are now driving through banana plantations, exotic fruits, coffee, and cocoa. It’s a great opportunity to meet local producers and get to know the Ecuadorian people. At the end of the day, we stop at an agricultural property that offers all the necessary comfort.

Day 5: BABAHOYO – CUENCA [240 km ]

Today we are heading for the Andes. We start this stage with very beautiful asphalt roads through nature reserves and pass 4300 meters in altitude. Arriving in Cuenca in the middle of the afternoon, this charming colonial city classified as a UNESCO heritage site charms visitors with its colonial architecture, houses with tiled roofs, floral wrought, and iron balconies. Dinner in the colonial center is planned before recharging the batteries in a comfortable 3 * hotel with thermal pools.

Day 6: CUENCA – BAÑOS [400 km]

Head north! We continue our route through the Andes following the Volcano chain which runs along the Pan-American. Many passes are on the program for the highest portion of this legendary route. Perched at an altitude of 4,600 meters, we get to know the snow-capped Chimborazo volcano before falling to the other side of the Andes, where the Amazon rainforest begins. In the afternoon, we take a track to approach the active Tunguraguhua volcano and reach the Baños spa town. Possibility of swimming, zipline crossing, or visiting the local market. Night in a standard hotel.

Day 7: BAÑOS – PUERTO MISAHUALLI [160 km ]

Change of scenery, we enter the jungle and discover a new ecosystem. We quickly lose altitude and sink into increasingly dense vegetation with beautiful asphalt roads that run alongside rivers and sugar cane plantations. Night in a luxurious lodge -in the heart of the jungle-.

Day 8: IMMERSION DANS LA JUNGLE AMAZONIENNE

Rest day dedicated to the Amazon jungle discovery. Possibility of canoeing along the Napo River, going on paths of primary forests excursion, observing endemic bird species, or lazing in the magnificent lodge hammocks where we stopover.
* Optional excursions

Day 9: PUERTO MISAHUALLI – LAGO SAN PABLO [ 310 km ]

We gain height and change the climate again, bypassing Quito to the east. We walk along a spectacular chain of volcanoes. A stop is required at the “Mitad del Mundo” site, which marks the Ecuador line on the ground. After 2 hours of driving through the mountains, we arrive -at the end of the day- at Lake San Pablo where we spend the night in the northern hemisphere in pretty, comfortable cottages.
Day 10: LAGO SAN PABLO – QUILOTOA [ 280km ]

After 2 hours of driving through the mountains, we bypass Quito to stay on the secondary roads with little traffic. We quickly regain altitude and pass at 3000 meters altitude before joining the Pan-American on the highest part of its 38,000 km long. We arrive at the end of the day at the majestic Quilotoa volcano foot. Night in a wonderful EcoLodge.

Day 11: QUILOTOA – SANTA MARIANITA [ 400 km ]

In the morning, we discover the imposing Quilotoa volcano, whose crater now houses a crystal-clear lake, a site of rare beauty that we set out to explore by taking a pretty track without difficulty.
In the afternoon, we gradually descend the Andes westward and pass from arid peaks to lush green countryside and their exotic plantations. The beautiful beaches of the Pacific Ocean welcome us at the end of the day to offer us the best of Ecuadorian cuisine: ceviche, giant crab, and shrimp. Back in Santa Marianita, we find the Mono 500 lodge where we spend the night with our feet in the water to enjoy the sunset over the ocean. Last dinner with the team. Night at the lodge.
