“Encounters in the Amazon” is one of the most adventurous expeditions to the heart of the Amazon. We are proud to offer this fantastic adventure over four days along the Shiripuno river.

This adventure unfolds in Yasuní National Park, where you will live like a nomad. Camping on the shores of the Shiripuno river, you will be constantly on the move while discovering the lush richness of this protected reserve. Additionally, you will experience authentic encounters with one of the most mysterious Amazonian indigenous communities: the Huaoranis.

Day by day

Day 1 : Quito > Francisco de Orellana (El Coca) > Amazon Rainforest (Yasuní National Park)

You will depart early from your hotel and transfer to Francisco de Orellana. This will be a long transfer by land ( approximately 7 hours), followed by a 2 hour transfer to the port where you will undertake your adventure.

Day 2 : Amazon Rainforest (Yasuní National Park)

Move like nomads along the Shiripuno river while discovering the Yasuní Park on fantastic canoe expeditions, hikes, cultural visits, and more. You will camp on the shores of the river.

Day 3 : Amazon Rainforest (Yasuní National Park)

Day 4 : Amazon Rainforest > Francisco de Orellana (El Coca) > Quito

You will get up early to take part in a last expedition while returning to the civilization.

Guidance

Amazon Rainforest: for the transfer to the village of Francisco de Orellana > private transport with an English-speaking driver (4×2 vehicle type, or another depending on the group size) your guide will be also your driver.

Amazon Rainforest: private local guide during the expeditions.

Physical: a good physical condition is required

Technical: no technical level is required

Equipment

Clothing :

-1 or 2 light walking trousers
-1 or 2 warm walking trousers
-2 Fleece jackets
-1 breathable warm jacket (gore tex type)
-1 waterproof jacket (type kway)
– light t-shirts
– hike shoes
– casual shoes
-1 pair of gloves for high altitude walks
-1 warm hat for high altitude walks
– beach clothing -if necessary-
– cap

Additional :

– water bottle – sunglasses
– solar cream
– hiking bag (between 25 to 45L)
– hike sticks
– camera
– binoculars
– duvet between 0C et -15C (when nights in a refuge or tent are planned)
– headlamp (for nights in tents or shelters)

Accommodation
During the 3 nights of your stay you will camp in comfortable tents (the size of the tents depends on the group size and your preference)

Observations
– Tents, rolling beds, mosquito nets, sleeping, and boots are included.
– Transfers and visits times are indicative.
– Tips: we recommend between $ 10 and $ 20 per worked day for a guide, and between $ 5 and $ 10 per worked day for a driver.
