Ecuador has two main spa towns where rest and well-being will accompany you. These are Baños and Papallacta towns, which are famous for their volcanic water’s deposits (Thermal Waters). Both are located among beautiful Andean surroundings, suitable for relaxation and many outdoor activities.

Baños

Baños is a small town in central Ecuador with a more tropical feel than any other town in the Andes. It is indeed located in a region with a “Cloud Forest”/tropical forest micro-climate type. Its thermal baths, formed by the Tungurahua volcano sulphurous waters, make up the reputation of this resort. Many activities are possible during your Ecuadorian Baños Town itinerary:
canyoning, rafting, mountain biking, etc.etc.
Going down towards the Amazon in the Puyo Village direction, you will enjoy the famous waterfall path and the “Pailon del Diablo Waterfall”, as well as the “Manto de la Novia Waterfall”. On its heights the Casa del Árbol and its swing in the void is also one of Ecuador’s most popular tourist attractions, which will offer you an incomparable view of the surroundings!

To get there: 45mn from Riobamba (eastbound)

Papallacta

Famous for its thermal baths, Papallacta offers you a stopover before heading to the Amazon. The area is full of hot-water swimming pools, and its main lodge, las “Termas de Papallacta”, offers luxurious accommodation, spa and relaxation facilities that you will especially appreciate! It is also possible to stay in Papallacta after or before a transfer to Quito airport, due to its proximity to it.
