Where to go horseback riding in Ecuador?

El Pedregal -Los Mortiños Hacienda-

Located near Cotopaxi National Park the Hacienda Los Mortiños offers several different routes from the hacienda.

  • The first is a 1-to-2-hour hike, going to the Rumiñahui volcano.
  • Cotopaxi park visit and return -via the Rumiñahui volcano- (3 to 5 hours)
  • Crossing the Cotopaxi National park, climb to the first Sincholagua heights, meeting with the park Chagras. (more than 6 hours)
  • Crossing Cotopaxi Park, ascending the first Pasochoa slopes, with the chance to see the great Andean condor and other birds.
Hacienda Zuleta

Hacienda Zuleta is located in the Otavalo region, just between the Cayambe and Imbabura volcanoes. A haven of tranquillity where horseback riding and many other activities are offered.
You will have a choice of 15 different routes for your horseback ride.

  • 1-to-2-hour ride
  • Half day ride (3-4 hours)
  • Hike Day to discover as much as possible the Hacienda Zuleta surroundings. The picnic is provided by the hacienda.
Tambopaxi Hacienda

Tambopaxi hacienda is the only hacienda located in the heart of the Cotopaxi National Park. For your activities, especially horse riding, you will be directly in what is one of the most beautiful parks in Ecuador.

You will have several routes available to discover the Cotopaxi Park as much as possible.

  • You will leave the hacienda towards the archaeological site of Pucará del Salitre. (2 hours)
  • The site of Pactajucho which are the sacred “thermal baths” of the Incas. (2h30)
  • Hike to the lagoon of Santo Domingo. (6 hours)
  • Visit to the Hummingbird Cave (3 hours)
  • Sincholagua Volcano (8 hours)
  • Rumiñahui Volcano (4 hours)
